Image quality and lighting consistency are critical — poor-quality shelf photos from store staff will degrade accuracy significantly. Purpose-built hardware (robots, fixed cameras) outperforms phone photos.
The operational value only materialises if stores act on the compliance data quickly. A report showing 200 gaps is useless without a prioritised action list and time allocated to fix them.
Experiment starter: In five stores, photograph every aisle against the current planogram. Have the computer vision tool flag non-compliance. Compare its findings against a manual audit. If it catches 80%+ of issues at 10% of the audit time, the case is strong.
