Built by an operator, for operators
This playbook exists because most AI guidance is written by technologists for technologists. This one is written for the people who actually have to make it work inside a business.

Scott Robertson
Transformation Director
20 years of delivering large-scale transformation programmes for consumer-facing businesses — retail, hospitality, DTC, and supply chain. The kind of work where strategy has to become execution, across product, operations, technology, and people, all at the same time.
Roles have included Head of Business Transformation, Head of Supply Chain Transformation, Programme Director, and Integration Director — always at director level, always hands-on. At Superdry, he also ran Central Merchandising: trading a £100m outlet business, buying £100m of stock per year, and owning stock optimisation, allocation, pricing, and the trading calendar. That operator experience — not just the transformation lens — is what shapes this playbook.
Currently completing Oxford Saïd Business School's AI-Driven Business Transformation executive programme. The academic research on general-purpose technologies and the practical experience of deploying AI in retail operations are both woven into this playbook.
What this playbook is built on
Not theory. Not vendor marketing. Direct experience from transformation programmes that had to deliver measurable results.
Shaped by work with
The frameworks and tools in this playbook come from transformation programmes delivered for some of the UK's most recognised consumer businesses.
Academic foundation
The playbook draws on research from Oxford Saïd Business School's AI-Driven Business Transformation programme — particularly the work on general-purpose technologies, the productivity J-curve, and why organisations consistently underinvest in the complementary changes that make AI deliver value. That academic rigour, combined with 20 years of operational experience, is what makes this different from the typical AI playbook.
