Business Impact
1

Negligible commercial impact. Saves time at the margins but won't move the needle on revenue or profit.

Feasibility
5

Very easy to implement. Ready-to-use tools exist. Can be up and running in days or weeks with minimal technical resource.

Data Readiness
4

Light data requirements. Uses straightforward inputs — documents, product descriptions, customer records — that are usually accessible with minimal prep.

Risk Exposure
5

Very low risk. Fully internal use. A person checks everything before it goes further. Worst case is a minor internal inconvenience.

Change Complexity
5

Very easy to absorb. Runs quietly in the background or gives people a helpful new input. Makes everyday work easier with almost no friction.

Standard LLM

Things to consider

  • The model assumptions and scenario inputs need to be structured and documented — the AI explains what the model says, it cannot reverse-engineer assumptions from an undocumented spreadsheet.

  • Workforce planning documents often contain commercially sensitive information about redundancy scenarios. Data governance for cloud-based LLMs needs to be addressed before using them for this purpose.

  • The narrative should be pitched at the right audience — a summary for the CEO looks different from one for the HR Director. Define the audience before drafting.

  • Workforce scenarios carry significant employee relations and legal implications. Any summary that references potential headcount reductions, role changes, or restructuring should be reviewed by both HR and legal before sharing beyond the HR leadership team.

  • Experiment starter: At the next planning cycle, use an LLM to produce a plain-language summary of two or three scenario outputs alongside the standard model outputs. Ask two business leaders who haven't seen the model to read the summary and describe the key implications of each scenario. Strong comprehension without the model itself indicates the summary is working.
