Opportunity assessment
Moderate impact. Meaningful cost or revenue improvement, likely noticeable at function level but modest relative to total business scale.
Moderate effort. Requires configuration, prompt engineering, and testing. A capable team can get there but expect several months.
Moderate data needs. Works with data most businesses hold, but will likely need consolidation, cleaning, or reformatting before use.
Low risk. Limited external exposure. A human reviews output before it reaches anyone outside the team.
Light people impact. A new tool slots into an existing workflow. Minimal training needed. Most people will adapt quickly.

Things to consider
The model is only as good as the data inputs. If supplier payment terms aren't consistently recorded or customer payment behaviour data is incomplete, the forecast will be unreliable.
Short-term forecasting (1–4 weeks) is significantly more accurate than medium-term (2–6 months) because fewer variables change. Start with the short-term view and extend as accuracy proves out.
The real value is in the early warning — a 2-week heads-up on a cash shortfall gives the treasury team time to arrange facilities or adjust payment timing.
Experiment starter: Compare your AI-generated cash flow forecast against actual cash positions daily for 4 weeks. Measure the average variance. If the forecast is within 5% of actual, it's useful for planning. If it's consistently off by 15%+, the input data needs work.
