Things to consider
Screen colour is not fabric colour. Use the digital variants to narrow the option set, then still take the shortlist to physical strike-off — teams that skip that step end up with a bulk delivery nobody signed off.
Each avoided strike-off saves both cost and roughly two weeks of calendar. On a large seasonal range that lead-time saving is usually worth more than the sampling cost.
Calibrate against your own fabric base. A print rendered on a generic silhouette will mislead on scale when the real fabric has texture, drape, or a pile.
Experiment starter: For one category, generate eight digital colourways per style instead of sampling four. Track how many physical strike-offs you commission and whether the final chosen colourway performs at or above the previous season's equivalent.
