Acoustic monitoring for equipment and environment
Deploy microphones and AI to detect anomalous sounds in stores, kitchens, or warehouses — equipment malfunction, security events, or environmental hazards — from audio patterns alone.

Opportunity assessment
Negligible commercial impact. Saves time at the margins but won't move the needle on revenue or profit.
Challenging. Significant technical work required. Likely needs an AI engineer or specialist vendor. Not a quick win.
Demanding data requirements. Relies on clean, integrated data across multiple systems. Significant data preparation work typically needed.
Low risk. Limited external exposure. A human reviews output before it reaches anyone outside the team.
Light people impact. A new tool slots into an existing workflow. Minimal training needed. Most people will adapt quickly.

Things to consider
Acoustic monitoring is well-established in industrial settings (factory equipment, pipelines) but underused in retail and hospitality. A refrigeration compressor makes a distinctly different sound before it fails.
Privacy concerns around audio recording in public or workplace environments need to be addressed. Most systems process audio locally and discard it after analysis — they detect patterns, not record conversations.
The training data requirement is significant — the model needs many examples of both normal and abnormal audio for each piece of equipment or scenario it monitors.
Experiment starter: Record audio near three critical pieces of equipment for 2 weeks. Have an engineer identify any abnormal sounds in the recordings. If abnormal patterns precede known maintenance events, the predictive case is strong.

Meeting note summarisation and action extraction
Convert meeting transcripts or recordings into structured summaries with decisions, actions, and owners. Available within minutes of the meeting ending.
Health and safety document review
Review risk assessments, method statements, and safety policies against regulatory requirements and company standards. Flags gaps for human review.
Audit preparation and evidence synthesis
Collate and summarise evidence packs for internal and external audits. Identifies gaps against audit criteria before the auditors arrive.
