Business Impact
2

Minor improvement. Small efficiency gain with limited effect on overall turnover or bottom line.

Feasibility
4

Relatively straightforward. Off-the-shelf tools handle the core task. Implementation is well-understood with good examples to follow.

Data Readiness
4

Light data requirements. Uses straightforward inputs — documents, product descriptions, customer records — that are usually accessible with minimal prep.

Risk Exposure
2

High risk. Significant external exposure or regulatory implications. Requires robust oversight and clear accountability.

Change Complexity
4

Light people impact. A new tool slots into an existing workflow. Minimal training needed. Most people will adapt quickly.

Things to consider

  • The scope of monitoring must be defined precisely — which regulators, which geographies, which topic areas. Trying to monitor everything produces noise; focus on the regulations most material to your business.

  • The AI summarises changes; qualified compliance, legal, or HR professionals interpret the implication and own the response. Do not allow automated regulatory interpretation without expert review.

  • Currency is critical — regulatory changes need to be acted on within defined timescales. The monitoring cadence (daily, weekly) must match the speed at which changes could become compliance issues.

  • A missed regulatory change is a serious risk. The system should be tuned for high recall (catching everything relevant) even at the cost of false positives. It is better to flag something irrelevant and have a human dismiss it than to miss something significant.

  • Experiment starter: For one regulatory area most material to your business, set up a manual weekly review of the relevant regulatory body's publications and use an LLM to summarise changes and flag implications. Share the summary with the compliance lead for one month. If they find it reduces their own monitoring effort without missing anything material, automate the data collection step.
