Business Impact
2

Minor improvement. Small efficiency gain with limited effect on overall turnover or bottom line.

Feasibility
4

Relatively straightforward. Off-the-shelf tools handle the core task. Implementation is well-understood with good examples to follow.

Data Readiness
3

Moderate data needs. Works with data most businesses hold, but will likely need consolidation, cleaning, or reformatting before use.

Risk Exposure
5

Very low risk. Fully internal use. A person checks everything before it goes further. Worst case is a minor internal inconvenience.

Change Complexity
5

Very easy to absorb. Runs quietly in the background or gives people a helpful new input. Makes everyday work easier with almost no friction.

Things to consider

  • Shadow IT means the finance ledger and the identity provider disagree about what you are running. Reconcile card spend, the ledger, and single sign-on logs — the tools that appear in only one of the three are where the waste is.

  • Do not reclaim seats automatically. A dormant licence may belong to someone on parental leave, and reclaiming it lands badly and pointlessly.

  • The saving lands at renewal, not at analysis. Sequence the work to arrive ninety days before each renewal date or the insight expires unused.

  • Experiment starter: Reconcile card spend, the finance ledger, and SSO logs for one quarter. Count applications appearing in only one source, then quantify seats with no login in ninety days across your five largest contracts.
