Opportunity assessment
Moderate impact. Meaningful cost or revenue improvement, likely noticeable at function level but modest relative to total business scale.
Moderate effort. Requires configuration, prompt engineering, and testing. A capable team can get there but expect several months.
Moderate data needs. Works with data most businesses hold, but will likely need consolidation, cleaning, or reformatting before use.
High risk. Significant external exposure or regulatory implications. Requires robust oversight and clear accountability.
Moderate people impact. Part of someone's working day changes. Requires training and some adjustment time, but roles remain broadly the same.

Things to consider
This is a transactional agent, not an informational one — it changes real orders and real money. Every action needs authentication, an eligibility check against fulfilment status, and a confirmation the customer explicitly accepts.
The cut-off logic is where it goes wrong. An amendment accepted after the order has picked creates a worse customer experience and a manual recovery, so integrate with real fulfilment status rather than a nominal cut-off time.
Log every automated change with the full conversation. When a customer disputes what they agreed to, that log is your only record.
Experiment starter: Enable date changes only, for orders more than 48 hours from dispatch, for a subset of customers. Measure contact deflection, amendment error rate, and downstream failed deliveries before widening the scope.
